This piece was inspired by the Food Not Cops chapter in Burlington, Vermont. Food Not Cops is a collaborative mutual aid project between Food Not Bombs and Burlington Copwatch. Copwatch is a network of abolitionists who film the police and engage in mutual aid. The folks at Food Not Cops have served lunch every day since March of 2020, as well as growing and cooking food, building relationships, getting materials to those who need them, and practicing political education.
